From the President

Group_photoDear EURASLIC Members,

As you know our 14 Biennial Conference was held in Lyon, France between 17 – 20 May, 2011. There were 42 attendees from 11 countries. The Conference Program included 16 oral presentations, 4 posters and several country reports. Executive Board and Business Meetings were held on Wednesday 18th May. During these meetings were discussed issues referring EURASLIC membership, funds, revising the list of National Representatives, EURASLIC Regional Groups activities, website, Newsletter and Leaflet. Three suggestions were made for the venue of 15th EURASLIC Meeting in 2013 – Bulgaria, Russia and Poland one of which had to be confirmed by the end of the year. The results of EURASLIC Executive Board elections arrived in the last day of the conference because of the time difference with USA. The names of the new Board are already on our website.

The Proceedings of the Conference will be put open access on the website and distributed on CD on demand.

Our hosts, Cemagref staff, took care for the gala dinner at Quai des Arts Restaurant where we had a lot of dancing and fun. Post conference outings included a visit to Traboules (a type of passageway primarily associated with the city of Lyon), Perouges and bird park excursion.

On behalf of EURASLIC Executive Board I would like to express our great thanks to the Conference Committee and local hosts: Marie-Pascale Baligand, Anne-Laure Achard, Yves Confesson, Emmanuelle Jannes-Ober and Ashley Tilghman-Sibille for the brilliant organization of all conference events and their kind hospitality.

Appreciation also goes to the sponsors that have contributed to the success of our biennial meeting titled Caught in the “fishing net” of information, namely Cemagref, EBSCO, ELSEVIER, ProQuest and Springer.
